"The only shoes
you'll need for a Florida summer are these 'Palm Beach Classic'
flip-flops from Stephen Bonanno Sandals."

The Palm Beach Post --
Travel Section 2004
OFTEN IMITATED, NEVER DUPLICATED.
THE ORIGINAL!

The "Palm Beach" Sandal (a.k.a. Navajo) was
originally designed and handmade for Jacqueline
Kennedy in the
early 1960s by shoe designer Luigi Pucillo and Stephen's
parents, Benny and Eva Bonanno.
Benny,
a cobbler by trade, and Eva, an expert with color, displayed their
hand-crafted sandals on the counter of their shoe repair shop in W. Palm
Beach for custom ordering. Their sandals became the rage ...
Benny
originally did not stamp the Bonanno name on his sandal.
A rainbow of kid-skin leather hides used to make the
supple tops on our sandals. There are over 75 colors
for your customers to
choose from.
Seeing the "Palm Beach" classic sandals' popularity grow, another manufacturer quickly
copied and stamped their name onto their version of the
sandal and mass marketed them.
1980s: Upon Benny's passing, Eva, noticing the sandals
disappearing from the market, encouraged
Stephen to pick up where his father left off.
Today: There are several imitations of the original
Bonanno sandal on the market.
The tradition continues ... Still family owned and operated,
Stephen stamped the Bonanno name onto the sandals and marketed them to
fine boutiques around the country and internationally.
Locally hand-crafted in W. Palm
Beach, the 100% leather Bonanno sandals are available in custom
colors with custom fitting for that hard to fit foot. They've added many
exciting new styles, including the Emma, a monogrammed sandal which was
featured by Oprah Winfrey in her "O" Magazine on the Top 10 "O"
List in 2003.
May 29th 2004: Stephen & Monia sold their first "Stephen
Bonanno Sandals" signature store to his sister Vivian and
her husband Domenick in Historic
Downtown Stuart, Florida.
It only takes putting your feet into one pair and you'll know why our
loyal customers always say, "BONANNO'S or barefoot."
